Happy Birthday, Dear Andrew

Andrew turned 6 on good old St. Patrick's Day. What a birthday it was. The excitement was building for WEEKS leading up to the big day. He planned his party, his cake, his dinner, everything. I think he would say it was perfect!

He opened his presents right after dinner and was SO excited!!!! He tried to be so good and read cards when I knew he just wanted to tear things open. Every present opening was followed by a scream or a growly "YES!!!!!" This was the best we could do to capture the face. The cake would come on party day so he chose pumpkin pie for his birthday night. It was a rough go blowing out those candles--hopefully he didn't wish for anything too necessary. Star Wars Legos (and check out the Star Wars throw pillow in the back that Rita and Clem got him---it actually matches his bed perfectly and he loves it!). The cake. I tried a new technique with this one--a frozen buttercream transfer--and it was a lot of fun. Plus, we've got a new egg-free cake recipe that worked super well (thanks Elizabeth!). It was a 'bring your light saber, Jedi training party'. The boys would have been happy with no structure and simply a free for all light saber battle (the newly unfinished part of the basement worked well for their battles--thank you water) Or the living room seemed to work well too...everywhere you turned there was dueilng going on. Amazingly enough, no injuries. Excited for cake! He specifically wanted his candles on Yoda's light saber. Happy Party Boys!!! I love watching kids be excited watching other kids open presents. His buddies were all so cute and generous. Andrew has been in heaven with his birthday stuff!
