The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

We've had lots of happenings lately--some good, some bad, some ugly. I guess you get what you get.

Some good:

Mary had her Japanese Tea Ceremony at school. They did formal tea ceremony things and then ate tea ceremony food. It was so serious and so exciting and we built up to it for so many weeks.

Best part of the tea ceremony--chop sticks and SUSHI (well, vegetable rolls). She loved it!

Julia and Mary and Sarah--the 2 best buds we've heard everything about all school year.

Some bad:

We went on a bike ride the night before this joyous tea ceremony and Whitney's bike tipped over and she fell off. She was sad and complaining that her elbow hurt. When she woke up in the morning she was still complaining and not using her arm at all. A quick trip to the doctor and a quick trip for x-rays and we had a 'non-broken' verdict. Halleluia! It was another 2 days before she even tried using it and a good week before we began to see the bruise.

There is was an equally long bruise on the back side of her arm as well.

Not to mention this super doosy on her leg. Poor girl.

Whit is our tough one and she suffered in silence, which made it worse for me. If only she would have just complained and whined about hurting so much that I could have yelled at her to quit complaining--but not Whitney, she just carried on with life by not moving her arm and kindly asking for help to do things that she couldn't do.

Some bad mixed with good:

Andrew had his kindergarden concert this past Tuesday, so of course he spent all Monday night coughing and woke up Tuesday morning with a fever and no energy (and then proceeded to be horribly sad all day about missing his concert). It was sad and bad.

But the good did come. Our neighbor's Andrew had his kindergarden concert the next night (halleluia ours wasn't the last one). We contacted the music teacher and kindergarten teachers involved and Andrew had his concert with their classes. It was nice having him singing beside his buddy and nice to not miss such a special night.

A true Kindergarden face

Hard to see but our Andrew is front row, 2nd from right; neighbor Andrew is the far right one.

And in other good/bad news: Bad news Mother's Day bummer was that Matt spent all day at UConn's graduation (yipee). Good news Mother's Day was that we all celebrated before church, he made a crock pot dinner so I didn't have to cook and now he doesn't have to attend graduation til 2014. :)

Poor Whit! The suffering in silence comment just about brought me to tears... what a little trooper! Glad to see that everything else is going great with you guys!
