Something About Mary

A big month for Mary. A spring concert, a birthday (and a big birthday at that), a party and an upcoming baptism. So much....wow!

Mary had her Spring Music Concert at school. It was fun seeing her with her class and all happy and funny with her buddies.

Mary and her teacher...it's been a great year.

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY MARY!!!!

I can't believe she's already 8--where has the time gone. Ok, enough drama, now, on to the party. It was a party year this year and Mary chose a Harry Potter theme. She's never seen the movie but has read the first Harry Potter book like 10 times. She loves it and knows more details than one should about the first book. I should probably let her read the next one or something. :)

We had a Hogwarts welcome sign and Gryffindor banners.
The kids made wands and then we had a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans taste guessing contest. We stuck with regular jelly belly flavors and the kids were grossed out by cinnamon and a few others. They were funny.
We had 'edible wands' too. Yummy!
Outside we did some Quidditch relays like broomstick relays, throwing the Quaffle, catching the snitch, etc. Annie was loving riding the broomstick.
So was Mary.
We had solo, duo, and team broomstick relays. It was hilarous to watch.
I never got a good group shot. They came in for cake and ice cream and loved drinking special potions in their goblets. Oh, speaking of potions, we had a potions class too and made lava lamps--that was fun!
Mary smiling with her cake--she was insistent on eating a piece of the wand.
Here are some cake shots--Mary wanted a spell book for her cake. It didn't turn out how I envisioned and made me realized I probably need to learn how to use fondant one of these years. Even with that though, she loved them and that's all that matters.

A few days after the party was the official birthday. She was quite excited by her Harry Potter Legos!!

It looks like everyone was excited about her bed for her American Girl doll. Plus it will give us a chance to get sewing as we make some bedding for her.

And here is May 2011 Mary in a nutshell:

Favorite foods: homemade mac and cheese, rotisserie chicken, CHOCOLATE

Favorite friends at school: Sara and Julia

Favorite Special at school: Art

Favorite show: Wild Kratts

Favorite Books: Harry Potter, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events, A to Z Mysteries, pretty much any book she can get her hands on

Favorite Things to do: read, ride bikes, play outside, read, play Legos, play the computer, color/draw

Favorite game: UNO

Favorite plan for when she outgrows her egg allergy: Eat Dunkin Donuts everyday along with Little Debbie Swiss Rolls

Best Qualities: A good friend, a good helper (when she puts her mind to it), a great big sister, kind, obedient

I love my Mary girl. I love how excited she gets about the little things in life and that hopefully we still have a few more years of that. She's growing up too fast.
