Two weekends ago, I took the train down to see Megan. I went Friday morning and came back late Saturday night. It was perfect and fun and yummy!
There wasn't much on the agenda, just wanted to see my sis, but then there is always something to do in the city.
We went to the 9-11 Memorial. The museum is not done but we were able to see the outside memorials. They were beautiful and it was overwhelming again thinking about it all.
The start of many stages of security check points.
This was the South Tower memorial. They have names going all around the perimeter. They are grouped by people in the towers, people on flights, or first responders.
Beautiful.
Same thing. It just looks so pretty with the buildings all around it.
Sisters...
Then we headed to the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. It was all about film and super interesting. I especially liked the exhibit on Jim Henson--his life and mind were amazing!
Megan and Nate making a video of still images. We were pretty talented at this, I might add.
Chewy might actually be related to us, hard to tell...
I needed to get the kids something and so we went to Dylan's Candy Bar. Fun store--2 stories of sheer candy overwhelmingness. The kids would have been in heaven. I was enjoying actually enjoying it without hearing people ask me a thousand times if we could buy this or that.
Me in front of the hideously large chocolate bunny--proof of my being there.
Restaurants:
La Esquina (yummy tacos)
Capital Grille (delicious dinner)
Starbucks for hot chocolate (must confess, it was my first visit to a starbucks)
Cafe Ronda (tasty brunch)
5 Napkin Burger (a turkey burger like no other)
Momofuku (bakery with amazing cookies)
Fun fun fun. I love that Megan is close enough, though as usual, I wish that she and everyone else were closer.
