MERAMEC CAVERNS
Just over an hour from my parents house is Meramec Caverns, a Missouri cave famous for being Jesse James' hideout. It's located right next to the Meramec River and made for a fun day trip. A cave tour, a picnic, and lots of playing by the river throwing rocks. We went with my parents, Nan, our Bowman cousins, and Elise.

A blurry shot but the only shot of everyone inside so I had to include it. Don't we look like true spelunkers (isn't great using the word 'spelunker'?)
Annie made it 1/2 way through the tour before she decided she was really tired and didn't like it. She was crying unconsolably (and loudly) and the tour guide came up to me and said "I'm not kicking you out of the tour but...." to which I responded, "Please, kick me out of the tour...get me out of here!" Annie was much happier outside though I was bummed to miss my brother's favorite part of the tour at the very end-- the tribute to America with lights and song. Kind of cheezy but apparently the kids really liked it.

Can't make a post about a cave without a picture of the cave. It really is pretty.
Whitney enjoyed herself, can't ya tell?
Don't be fooled by Andrew's fake sleepiness, he had a blast too.
Posing with Jesse James.

That looks like a lot of fun. I don't think we ever went there. Maybe someday.
I just played catch up on your posts--too fun! It looks like it was a great trip and that you had a blast! So true about the best part was the the fact of being with cousins. Don't you hate that they are all so far away-we sure do! Glad it was safe though and you got back safely!
I think you left out the best part of your trip..umm the wonderful dinner with your friends from high school (tisk tisk)
